We’re here to help at every stage

Life is full of ups and downs; you don’t always know what’s coming next. Nobody likes to think about sad things or things going wrong, but planning can help you to manage when they do. We understand the need for peace of mind when sorting out the legal affairs of either yourself or a loved one.

It can be a stressful time, with emotions running high, and we can help to remove your anxiety and focus on getting the best result for you and your family.

Our team is based at our offices in central Birmingham, and at Anthony Collins Solicitors, we focus our support on two areas: supporting clients and their families at pivotal times in their life, from birth through to death, helping them preserve and protect their assets, and helping people facing complex and critical events, such as personal injurymedical or clinical negligence, childcare issues, loss of capacity, and loss of employment.

Life-stage planning

It’s never too soon to get your legal affairs in order but, when you’re busy with day-to-day life and work, it can be hard to come home and make sure that you look after yourself and your future. Nobody knows what the future holds, but taking a bit of time to ensure that you’re prepared for the maybes can have a double benefit; not only will you have peace of mind for your future, but your loved ones will be more secure too.

Our Wills and Estate planning team will help you to consider what this means for you and any children or dependents. With extensive experience in providing wills and estate planning, including your finances and whether your savings and pensions are sufficient, possible contesting of your will, succession planning if you’re a business owner or dispute resolution.

We can also support with Preparing a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), which enables you to appoint the people you trust the most to make decisions for you if you later lose the capacity to make those decisions for yourself. We can help guide you through the process, prepare the necessary documents, and support you in appointing the right attorney, clarifying the difference between the two main types of attorney; property and finance, and health and welfare.

Where there are concerns about Marriage and relationships we can help you navigate the minefield of legal terminology, resolving your issues concerning your children and financial matters. We can also help you plan for your marriage, with a prenuptial agreement, and ensuring your asset planning in the build-up to the big day.

With the largest family mediation team in Birmingham, we can help you to reach a functional outcome regarding children, property, finance, or other significant family matters. Our experience and expertise allow us to act as either your solicitor during the mediation process or as the family mediator for both parties.

We are the leading Midlands’ firm for childcare and family law, advising clients on private childcare arrangements and negotiations during court proceedings, representing and advising parents through the child-protection process, and advising prospective parents on adoption and surrogacy processes.

Our Court of Protection team believes that every person should be treated as an individual, empowered and supported to make their own decisions about their life, and free from undue pressure or abuse.

A ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach is inappropriate and inadequate, and we work alongside our clients, and those who care about them, to help them focus on what is important to them and work towards their personal goals. Our efficient working practices allow for our clients’ funds to be available to meet their needs and priorities, rather than for professional fees.

Critical events

There is nothing worse than being let down by those who we are meant to trust, and yet medical and clinical negligence are real problems that can severely and catastrophically damage your health and trust in the medical system.

If you have experienced personal injury through no fault of your own, we can provide specialist advice to help you gain justice for the impact on your life, or your family’s, and get you proper compensation. Compensation isn’t about winning you money; it’s about providing you with the resources to live as full a life as possible.

We’ve put together some simple guides to explain what happens in a typical personal injury or negligence compensation case.

At Anthony Collins Solicitors, we offer specialist advice regarding mental health issuescommunity care or abuse, whether domestic abuse or otherwise. As a values-led firm, we will help you in any way that we can to make your life easier, put your mind at ease, and guide you through the process to get you back to living a full life.

An amazing and fantastic family team. I appreciate all the work you’ve done for me.

Mr D.

Sources say this is “probably the best firm in the Midlands for children law,” adding that “its solicitors are extremely driven and focused” as well as “leaders in the field.”
