WEBINAR: Essential assurance – DMC and compliance with ‘all relevant law’

Effective management of damp, mould and condensation (DMC) (condition, consequences and complaints) is currently one of the highest priorities for housing providers as they rework their business plans around it.

Boards are rightly focused on ensuring their organisations meet all regulatory expectations in relation to DMC. However, one which has been largely overlooked is how DMC issues impact the regulatory obligation for boards to certify annually that they are in compliance with the Governance and Financial Viability Standard’s requirement to comply with ‘all relevant law’.

Working with several key stakeholders including RSM and the National Housing Federation, we have devised comprehensive guidance to support the assessment of legal compliance in relation to DMC. Applying this guidance can enable housing providers to demonstrate they have taken ‘reasonable measures’ to understand and comply with relevant law and thereby certify compliance with the Governance and Financial Viability Standard.

This session will outline our newly-issued guidance and advise you on how to use it for maximum effectiveness, alongside practical advice and good practice in this area drawn from our sector expertise.

Who should attend?

Chief executives and executives sighted on regulatory compliance.

The ACsess Governance Club – Everything you need to know (from a governance perspective) about the Social Housing Regulation Bill

The Social Housing Regulation Bill is approaching its final approval by Parliament and will then become law. It will have huge and far-reaching implications for the social housing sector in England and how it is regulated. The size and complexity of the Bill, coupled with the large number of amendments it has been subjected to as it has passed through the Parliamentary process has made it difficult to keep track of.

Understanding the Bill when it becomes law is critical to legal and regulatory compliance. In this session, our governance experts Victoria Jardine and Catherine Simpson will walk you through its principal parts focussing on how this will change the status quo when we expect the changes to come into effect and what you need to do now to prepare for them. Attendees will have the opportunity to share their own experiences of preparing for change, and to pick up tips and good practice from one another in this crucial area.

Who should attend?
This session is aimed primarily at company secretaries, heads of governance and heads of legal for registered providers in England (to which the new law will apply) but it may also be of interest to registered social landlords in Wales.
