The ACS trainees have spearheaded the £2018 for 2018 campaign to raise money for St Basils. St Basils are a West-Midlands-based charity who help young people, aged 16-25, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
They provide accommodation alongside mental health, education and family support services to try and help young people rebuild their lives. St Basils are the firm’s nominated charity for 2018.
In March, the trainees organised an all-you-can-eat (and drink) pizza and prosecco night, which was a huge success. Approximately 50 ACS staff and family members attended the event on the 9th floor of our offices. As well as the pizza and prosecco on offer, there was a cake sale and raffle with prizes donated by the trainees. The event raised £418.56 for St Basils making a significant dent in our target.
On 20 May, six brave trainees took part in the Rough Runner; a 5-kilometre scramble over ‘it’s-a-knockout’ style obstacles for a race to the finish. The obstacles included climbing walls, trapeze swings over pools of freezing water, a pit of giant inflatable balls, and, finally, overcoming the ‘travellator’, which is based on the TV show Gladiators. All sponsorships are contributing to our target.
We have also scheduled two more events for ACS employees to attend; an England Football World Cup match TV screening with a BBQ in June, and a Pub Quiz night in October. After the roaring success of the pizza and prosecco night, we hope these events will be just as fun and smash our target of £2018 for 2018.
