Anthony Collins has worked with the Child Brain Injury Trust, the only national organisation working with children and individual people affected by acquired brain injury, for many years.
The conference focused its attention upon the huge shifts in the special education needs landscape, which are having an important effect upon children with an acquired brain injury. The implications of the Children and Families Act 2014 was particularly highlighted in respect of how a school’s role has changed in the rehabilitation for children who have suffered a brain injury. Bringing together the country’s leading experts in education, the conference looked at the issues faced by families and professionals alike who support children following a brain injury and showcased academic research into the area highlighting how professionals can embrace the subject matter positively in their day-to-day work.
Aside from leading experts in the field, families from all walks of life were in attendance and there was an opportunity to network, learn new information, develop a greater understanding of brain injury and improve practice and care for families facing life after a brain injury.

We are now part of a new national legal support service, alongside the Child Brain Injury Trust, and are very proud to be partnering with them in this way in order to support the needs of children and their families affected by a brain injury”.
