Yesterday, on 6 August 2020, the Government published the above White Paper. The purpose of the White Paper is to do the following: “Planning for the future, landmark reforms to speed up and modernise the planning system and get the country building”.
The headlines from the White Paper are as follows:
- The Government sets out plans to overhaul outdated planning system and reform the way country builds;
- Plans to streamline process, cut red tape and harness technology to deliver homes faster
- Value green spaces protected for future generations, with more building on brown field land;
- Building beautiful homes with communities at heart of new planning system;
- 30% discount through first homes, with an emphasis on key workers.
I will be reviewing the White Paper and publishing my thoughts in due course. I would appreciate any comments from clients which would assist with this process. I am of course happy to discuss any particular points of concern or good points that may be raised in the Government’s White Paper. Please contact me below to discuss further.
