Who we help

We support public sector clients, not-for-profits, funders and housing providers on all aspects of construction law, from developing procurement strategies at project inception through to advising on repairs and maintenance following project completion.

Our unique approach

Our construction solicitors bring together expertise in construction law, public procurement, governance, charity law, subsidy control, planning and real estate, enabling us to provide well-rounded, joined-up advice at every stage of a project’s lifecycle.

We understand that many of our clients are seeking to maximise the positive impact they have on society and the communities they serve while developing, regenerating and maintaining the built environment.

Our construction team forms part of a nationally recognised practice for social purpose organisations, and we are recognised as pioneers in securing community benefits through contracts, having helped shape the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012.

Our construction service

Our construction service includes:

  • Advising on construction procurement strategies, including compliance with the public procurement regimes;
  • Drafting and negotiating bespoke agreements together with standard-form building contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC, IChemE and PPC) and consultants’ appointments (e.g. RIBA, RICS, ACE and NEC) with bespoke amendments to align with risk profiles and any wider regulatory and/or statutory obligations;
  • Drafting and negotiating collateral warranties, parent company guarantees, performance bonds, deeds of novation and deeds of variation;
  • Supporting clients in securing development funding and protecting investments throughout project delivery;
  • Advising on housing development projects, from delivery models and site acquisition through to the development and acquisition of housing units, including higher-risk buildings;
  • Supporting the delivery of regeneration schemes, including publicly funded regeneration projects;
  • Leading complex capital and revenue infrastructure projects across sectors such as transport, energy and digital infrastructure;
  • Providing support throughout the lifecycle of a building, from completion and defect rectification through to long-term repairs, maintenance arrangements and building safety matters;
  • Delivering tailored training to in-house teams to strengthen contract management practices and reduce the risk of disputes; and
  • Providing strategic advice on securing and maximising social value outcomes.
