My role

I advise a range of clients on matters relating to privacy, data protection, defamation and the protection of corporate reputation and the use of social media. I also have expertise in the areas of free speech, media freedom and media regulation. In addition, I regularly deliver lectures and training on my areas of expertise.

My experience

Having been called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 2007, as well as being an Associate at Anthony Collins Solicitors, I am also a Door Tenant at East Anglian Chambers and an Associate Academic Member of Cornwall Street Chambers.

In addition to being a practising lawyer, I am a Research Associate at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies’ Information Law & Policy Centre at the University of London. My research falls within two distinct areas of Media Law: (i) social media’s impact on free speech, media freedom and regulation, and (ii) defamation. I have written widely on these areas for leading academic journals, such as Northern Ireland Legal Quarterly, Legal Studies, the University of Melbourne’s Media & Arts Law Review, Communications Law and the Journal of Business Law. I have presented my work at a number of national and international conferences and regularly write for practitioner / media publications, including the New Law Journal, Entertainment Law Review, The Conversation, Inforrm and The Independent, amongst many others.

I also sit on the Executive Committee of the Society of Legal Scholars, as well as the Editorial Board of Communications Law.
