My role
As an executive within the planning team, I take on a large variety of complex work. Whilst maintaining a large caseload of highway agreements consisting of s38, s278 and s104 agreements, I draft a range of complex s106 agreements with regards to affordable housing provisions (including first homes) and biodiversity net gain obligations, primarily on behalf of local authorities. I also provide advice notes on planning and highways and have specifically given advice on building control enforcement, advertisement control and the creation of footpaths. Along with this, I review certificate of lawfulness applications on behalf of a local authority and I am in the process of preparing a number of compulsory purchase orders.
My experience
I began my legal career as a legal apprentice with Wolverhampton City Council working within the litigation and property teams. I built my experience in a variety of different matters such as drafting Right to Buy applications, leases and licences and preparing documents for court. This helped me familiarize myself with the legal world and its procedures.
I then accepted a position as a legal assistant for Telford and Wrekin Council in the regulation and planning Team. In this position, I managed a large caseload of highway agreements, general highways advice and supported the traffic and transport department in reviewing temporary and permanent Traffic Regulation Orders. My role expanded to support the senior rights of way officer in creating rights of way orders and drafting s106 agreements for the planning department. I also began providing advice and reviewing Certificates of Lawfulness applications. This experience and skillset propelled me to my current position at Anthony Collins.
