Manchester-based law firm Anthony Collins Solicitors (ACS) has been appointed by The Growth Company to support its business development and in-house legal teams.
The appointment will see ACS work alongside the social enterprise to further its mission to enable economic growth, create jobs and transform communities in the areas it serves including Greater Manchester and other parts of the North West and Northern England.
As a key partner of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, each year The Growth Company helps more than 100,000 people improve their lives, with a particular focus on working with young people and disadvantaged groups, including ex-offenders.
Additionally, the social enterprise supports more than 30,000 businesses to advance innovation, create new jobs, as well as further diversity and inclusion.
Last year The Growth Company supported over 14,000 people into work, plus helped over 1,700 people onto apprenticeship programmes. As an organisation committed to sustainability, it also removed nearly 5000 tonnes of carbon from the environment as part of its drive towards net zero.
ACS, headquartered in Birmingham, opened its Manchester office in 2019 following a period of rapid growth.
Since its arrival in Manchester, ACS has become the lead advisor to Co-operatives UK, based in the city, as well as seeing significant growth in its work with housing associations. The firm also worked closely with Great Homes For Greater Manchester (GH4GM), to help ensure the provision of better housing for the people who live and work in the region.
David Alcock, partner at Anthony Collins Solicitors, commented:
“There is a really strong alignment of vision and values between Anthony Collins Solicitors and The Growth Company”.
“As a social purpose law firm, we are committed to improving lives and communities, including assisting people to use business for broader social good, while The Growth Company’s mission is to further an inclusive, sustainable society that leaves nobody behind.”
“This opens up invaluable opportunities to generate positive outcomes both for people and businesses across Greater Manchester and we’re looking forward to what we will achieve together.”
Paul Simpson, chief finance officer at The Growth Company, said:
“Working with organisations that share our goals and ambitions around social value is hugely important to us. Being a leader in our different sectors can only be achieved by working with organisations that have the same commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth. We look forward to working with the team at ACS.”
