Ranjit, who joined the firm from Shoosmiths in February 2013 was formally appointed to the partnership on 1 December.
A real estate and commercial property lawyer specialising in social housing development and regeneration schemes, Ranjit has acted for a number of high profile housing associations whilst at the firm.
He recently advised on a £42million deal for Walsall Housing Group on the regeneration of five sites, providing over 180 open market units and 150 affordable housing units in partnership with Kier Partnership Homes. Ranjit boosts the firm’s offering in respect of property securitisation projects acting for numerous Registered Providers as well as being part of the team acting on Private Placement/Bond initiatives.
Jonathan Cox, partner at ACS commented: “It gives us great pleasure to welcome Ranjit to the partnership. His established reputation means that he is a valuable asset to the firm and his promotion secures an added strength and depth to the social housing team to complement the resources already available to clients.
“Social housing is a core sector for Anthony Collins Solicitors and we’re committed to strengthening our reputation as a top legal adviser in the market.” he added.
Ranjit said: “This is a real opportunity to grow an already thriving property offering.
“Changes in the grant regime have impacted on the delivery and the structure of transactions for the development of affordable housing units. This requires property lawyers acting for the sector to be not only legally proficient but to add commercial acumen to transactions.”
Anthony Collins Solicitors’ social housing team is ranked top tier by Chambers UK and Legal 500, noted for its ‘strong client focus’ and national reputation.
Ranjit’s appointment takes the total number of partners at the firm to 22.
