We are supporting our client while he is incarcerated, ensuring that he has access to personal funds and essential items during his sentence.
While our client was on remand, we arranged for his Housing Benefit and other entitled benefits to be paid. However, these payments were discontinued upon sentencing, which required swift action to address the financial implications for his rental property, which was with a housing association.
Since the lease was solely in our client’s name, surrendering it on his behalf required consent from the housing association. Our extensive communications resulted in approval to terminate the lease. We then facilitated the payment of all outstanding rent, allowing for this process to run smoothly.
An additional challenge involved managing our client’s personal belongings within the property. We coordinated with family members to clear the premises and arrange secure storage for these belongings until our client’s release. With the property cleared, we were able to return the keys to the housing association, finalising the lease termination.
We will continue to provide support upon his release.
