Services to Christian churches and charities

Our expertise as charity specialists goes beyond technical understanding. We understand that your Christian faith is at the heart of what you do and how this impacts all areas of your work and the legal advice you seek.

We have been working with Christian charities and churches for over 50 years and can advise you on a range of issues that you might face:

  • Governance – supporting you on all aspects of governance such as the duties and responsibilities of your charity trustees, drafting and updating governing documents, terms of reference for sub-committees and support if you are approached by or need to report an incident to the Charity Commission.
  • Employment and pensions – providing you with clear practical and strategic employment support including, for example, policies and procedures, carrying out an investigation and advising when it might be permissible to limit those you employ based on their Christian faith.
  • Property – offering you advice on all aspects of property transactions, including sales and purchases, leases and the construction of new buildings. In particular, we can advise you on any requirements of the Charities Act 2011 when selling a property.
  • Contracts and commercial law – advising you on grants, fundraising contracts and any other contracts you may enter into for your church or charity.
