We’ve partnered with Co-operative Energy and the Phone Co-op for Greenbelt 2017 (25-28 August) to host a brand new venue and programme called The Exchange. The Exchange will focus on Enterprise for the Common Good and will provide a space to meet and discuss common issues facing cooperatives, and social and community enterprises.
Is the pursuit of private gain the only basis for successful and sustainable business? It’s the prevailing model in the UK and beyond, yet it poses probably the biggest challenge to the future of the planet. Is there some other fuel that could power the engine of enterprise?
Yes there is, and at Greenbelt 2017 we will see a completely new venue to engage with this vital question. The Exchange will be a new space, dedicated to the subject of ‘Enterprise for the Common Good’ – for exploring how business can be a force for good, for reducing inequality, for building community, and for pursuing justice. Brought to you by Co-operative Energy, the Phone Co-op and Anthony Collins Solicitors, The Exchange will be a place for you to come and hear about our journeys and the values and principles we follow, as well as discuss common issues. It will also be a space where you can meet other co-operatives, social and community enterprises. You’ll be able to listen to some inspirational pioneers of enterprise for the common good, engage in panel discussions, and find out about start-up, funding, and transformation.
Anthony Collins Solicitors - about us
We are a specialist law firm with a clear purpose – to “improve lives, communities and society". For over 40 years we’ve been successfully combining market-leading legal expertise with a commitment to excellence and long-term relationships underpinned by a strong set of values.
- are purpose driven;
- show respect;
- build relationships;
- demonstrate integrity; and
- deliver excellence.
Founded in Birmingham in 1973 by Anthony Collins, whose Christian faith motivated him to set up a firm to serve individuals and the community, our business started with a commitment to serve individuals and the community in a way not seen before. Since then, we have pursued our social purpose through the work we do and how we do it. We are proud of our purpose and of our values. This is reflected in the clients we work with and the sectors we serve. We are now nationally recognised across our specialist sectors.
Our work with social businesses
We create, support and grow enterprises for the common good. Our team of social business solicitors have broad sector-specific legal expertise and provide tailored advice for a variety of social businesses, including:
- Community organisations
- Co-operatives and mutuals
- Social enterprises
- Businesses driven by their values
Social businesses have different legal requirements to other commercial businesses. Whilst equally focused on commercial necessity, their very reason for existence affects day-to-day operation, including how they deal with staff, customers and the wider community. This different outlook requires legal services that are responsive to a values-driven approach, provided by experts who understand the specifics.
As a mission-led business, committed to improving lives, communities and society, we understand the need to provide services that are specifically designed to achieve a social purpose and respond to the values-driven approach. It is this that drives our passion to provide the best possible services to your social business.
