Charity Support

Supporting the wider community

As part of our culture and values, we support each other in being involved in charitable activities for a wide range of organisations throughout the year.  For example, we hold very popular fundraising lunches for staff where the proceeds are given to that month's charity.

Helping a charity where you can see the difference it makes to people's lives is important. That’s why we contributed towards printing a Celebrity Cookbook compiled by a colleague who has two children with Cystic Fibrosis and why we supported Heartlinks, a charity helping parents of children with congenital heart conditions.

Digging deep for good causes

Every year, backed by the firm, many of us take part in fundraising challenges - from the London Marathon and the Great North Run to the St Basil’s Challenge. Our trainee solicitors are particularly active, doing many different tasks from wrapping Christmas presents to gardening projects for local charities.

Staff members have also taken on many interesting away day challenges. Never scared to get their hands dirty, they have cleared the gardens of various hostels for Birmingham City Mission and completed rubbish clearance projects on housing estates.

Making a real difference

Our recent flagship community-based projects include The Nehemiah Foundation, which:

  • trains, equips and supports regeneration workers linked to neighbourhood based organisations, especially churches; and
  • was developed in collaboration with the Church Urban Fund and St John’s College, Nottingham.

The Nehemiah Foundation has enabled the following across the West Midlands:

  • detailed "baseline reports" and community profiles;
  • neighbourhood plans that join up stakeholder thinking and identify goals over the next five to ten years;
  • organisational networks to take forward plans for transforming communities;
  • communication structures accessible by all stakeholders in the neighbourhood;
  • truly joined up partnership working.

The Foundation equips locally-based organisations to be at the heart of neighbourhood work, initiating and responding to regeneration opportunities.
