  • Peter specialises in the law relating to children, particularly public law matters under the Children Act and matters under the Adoption legislation
  • Peter has significant experience in
    • the formulation of child welfare policies
    • undertaking child protection risk assessments
    • preparing cases for, and representing parties in, Emergency Protection Order matters, care proceedings, and related Public Law Applications including adoption matters
    • child protection matters and the procedures under the Adoption Agencies Regulations.
  • Peter has regularly lectured for Jordans (Family Law) and Central Law Training
  • He has also advised and lectured extensively to Adoption Agencies in both the public and voluntary sectors

Professional Memberships, Publications and Interests:

Peter is a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel, a position he has held for the past 20 years.

He is a member of the Legal Group Advisory Committee of the British Association for Adoption and Fostering where he is also a nominee director.

Peter is also a Retained Panel Legal Adviser to two Adoption Panels operated by Action for Children, and is one of two nationwide advisers to the Independent Review Mechanism relating to prospective adopters.

He is Diocesan Child Protection Adviser for the Anglican Diocese of Birmingham, and a member of the Anglican Church’s Central Safeguarding Liaison Group.
