- John is a commercial and corporate lawyer who has throughout his career of over 30 years to date in private practice specialised in legal services to commercial firms and public sector bodies.
- John’s main specialism in the last 20 years has been transactional services to borrowers and lenders. He has negotiated on behalf of housing associations, and other social housing providers, the loan agreements (and often the security documents) for many borrowing facilities from private sector lenders, including more than fifteen completed deals since the start of 2006 for new facilities, or increases in facilities, with new monies averaging more than £45 million per deal.
- He also has substantial experience, over many years, of acting for the borrower counter-party in advising on the ISDA derivatives Master Agreement and negotiating the bespoke Schedule to it.
Professional Memberships, Publications and Interests:
John spends a fair amount of time on the train between his home in Macclesfield, Cheshire, and our office (happily, he is one of that rare breed for whom the thrill of commuting never really wears off…). When at home he enjoys listening to a mixed bag of music (from J S Bach to Warren Zevon), leafing through restaurant guides and trying to adhere to the maxim, "Life’s too short to drink bad wine”.
