Please join us to hear how the Imagine Project can help us achieve a more sustainable future.
Cycling is a remarkably efficient and environmentally friendly way to get around. However, manufacturing everywhere is based on taking raw materials, turning them into products and when they are finished with, throwing them away. This is wasteful and unsustainable; there must be a better way.
The Imagine Project is a pioneering project attempting to rethink the way bicycles are made and supplied. The aim is to design bicycles so that they last longer, and when they finally reach the end of their lives, all raw materials can be separated and reused. This is known as a “closed loop” or “circular” supply chain.
Cyclo-cross champ and game-changing entrepreneur, Isla Rowntree, will describe her aims for the Imagine Project. This will be followed by Andrew Ritchie, the founder and designer of Brompton Bicycles, who will highlight some of the challenges. As well as hearing from Isla and Andrew, there will be a question and answer session and an opportunity for networking over light refreshments.
This is not just about cycling. The Imagine Project has the potential to contribute to manufacturing businesses across the region and, by encouraging the circular economy, to help reduce waste and pollution with all the health and other benefits that would involve.
