Health and Safety and Directors Responsibilities

Event date: 03 March 2010

When is it?

  • 2:00pm - 4:30pm (Registration from 1:30pm)
  • 134 Edmund Street, Birmingham, B3 2ES
  • £95.00 + VAT (Free for clients)
  • Please note that this is a repeat of the popular training seminar we held at our offices last year

Who will be there?

  • Deborah Shaw, Partner
  • Heath Thomas, Senior Associate

What is it about?

Aimed at directors, senior managers and health and safety officers and
representatives, this general seminar will include:

  • An understanding of the key concepts for directors as
recommended by the HSE and Institute of Directors (‘Leading health
    and safety at work’)
  • Legal responsibility of employers
  • Good practice in planning, delivering and monitoring health and
    safety
  • Legal liability of individual board members for health and safety
    failures
  • Leadership checklist
  • Corporate manslaughter - an overview

Why should I attend?

  • If you have employees, then you have responsibility for their health and safety whilst they are at work. You owe a similar duty of care to visitors to your premises.
  • The responsibilities are now so wide that clients often have difficulty understanding the extent of their duties and may struggle to carry them out. In some cases this can have serious consequences, leading to injury or even death and subsequent prosecution, as well as claims in the civil courts.
