What should you do if you feel someone is being forced in to a marriage? The forced marriage unit receives over 5000 calls a year but that it just the tip of the iceberg. 42% of the forced unit marriage cases involve a minor under the age of 16. The legislation is now in place to help protect those who are being or have been forced into a marriage but it is the view of a senior judge in Birmingham that not enough cases are being brought forward. It is important that every organisation knows the legislation and how to use it.
