Delegates

What are the risks of having Board Members not fully understanding their role and how they need to perform?  How long does it take new Board Members to become effective?  You should attend if you’re a new Board Member or an existing Board Member wanting to make sure you are as effective as possible.

What will it cover?

The training day will cover:

  • duties and responsibilities;
  • conflicts of interest;
  • nominees or representatives;
  • membership versus Board membership;
  • the role of the executive team;
  • committees and working groups;
  • group decision making;
  • collective responsibility; and
  • improving performance.

Plus the following dedicated sessions :-

For Registered Providers:

  • the Tenant Services Authority;
  • the new Regulatory Regime ; and
  • Board responsibility and governance.

For Almos:

  • EU procurement rules for Almos;
  • Board Member remuneration; and
  • your relationship with the Council.

For Charities:

  • the Charity Commission as regulator;
  • remuneration of charity trustees;
  • charities and trading; and
  • public benefit requirements.

Whilst the seminar would be of benefit to all charity trustees, it will be particularly focused towards trustees of incorporated charities.

Why should I attend?

The performance of Board Members is vital to the success of an organisation.  If performance is poor then meetings can be unproductive, lack focus and deliver ineffective outcomes.  This interactive training day is designed to bring Board Members up to speed on a comprehensive range of legal issues they will regularly face.  It will also complement your own induction and training programme for Board Members.
