Personal Injury

Accidents can occur either at home or abroad. They can result from a road traffic accident, injury at work, during leisure time probably as a result of faulty equipment, indeed wherever there is human activity, there is the potential for injury. However, whilst sometimes an injury can simply be an accident, if the person has injured you or contributed to your injury, has failed to take the proper care to protect you, and you are injured as a result, then you may have a claim.

If you consider that you have a claim, you should seek immediate legal advice.

Also you should where possible:

  • Keep receipts;
  • Make a note of your injury and what happened to you;
  • Obtain details of witnesses;
  • Make a note of treating doctors or other medical staff details;
  • Take photographs where possible;
  • Make a record of your out of pocket expenses;
  • Keep a record of your ongoing physical condition;
  • Make a note of anyone who gives you care and assistance in your home;
  • Seek welfare advice if you lose wages;
  • Keep a note of your loss of earnings;
  • If you experience employment difficulties, seek the advice of an employment lawyer;

Do not:

  • Accept any form of compensation or sign any acceptance without legal advice;
  • Forget your limitation date, if in doubt, seek urgent legal advice.

The Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence department is a vibrant and active unit dealing with a wide range of injury claims. It specialises in clinical negligence - where people have suffered injury as a result of medical maltreatment, an operation going wrong, mis-diagnosis and so on. The department is also experienced in dealing with stress at work claims and general injury matters. It has developed a respected reputation within the legal profession and amongst clients alike, obtaining appropriate and fair compensation through a determined and pragmatic approach. The unit was one of the first law firms to use mediation to resolve clinical negligence claims. In addition to domestic claims, the unit can deal with foreign jurisdiction accidents, using skilled and respected lawyers within that country. They also assist foreign lawyers with their client's claims, particularly through the civil court process. In summary, this is a professionally active unit, capable of assisting you with your claim both domestically and internationally.

The team is headed by Tony Hall, who is a partner. Tony has many years experience in dealing with clinical negligence claims, having spent some time working for Health Authorities. He works exclusively for claimants, and is a member of the Law Society panel of Clinical Negligence Lawyers. The department is assisted by Associate Solicitors, Rankeshwar Batta, Charlotte Hatfield and Sarah Huntbach and Inez Brown and Maryam Bentley who are both Assistant Solicitors:
