Professional negligence

Whatever the nature of your organisation, you are likely from time to time to require professional advisers. Solicitors, accountants, architects, surveyors and brokers provide a variety of specialist services. Nine times out of ten you will be entirely happy with the service provided by your professional advisers and with the advice given. But what do you do on the rare occasion when something goes wrong and you feel let down by the professionals in whom you have put your trust?

We have many years experience of advising clients in professional negligence claims. We understand not only the legal issues involved but also the issues that are likely to be concerns for you in deciding whether to pursue a claim. You may feel that you have been badly let down by a professional adviser and want to make them pay - or you may have always enjoyed a good relationship with your adviser and want to preserve that good relationship. Either way we will give clear impartial advice about whether your complaint amounts to a claim worth pursuing in law and what loss you may expect to recover.

We will also advise about the best way of pursuing any claim. There are many alternatives to litigation. Nick Carter, a partner in Anthony Collins Solicitors' Dispute Resolution Department who specialises in professional negligence claims, has gained extensive experience of resolving disputes by mediation.

Recently we have been involved in:

  • recovering a sum in excess of £250,000 for an owner of licensed premises who had been let down by his solicitors.
  • a substantial sum for a recruitment agency from their former auditors who had dealt negligently with their tax affairs.
  • advising clients concerning a claim for negligence against their insurance brokers.
  • advising a lender concerning a claim for negligence against a surveyor who prepared a negligent survey report in respect of the property which the lender took as its security.

We are prepared to offer a free initial review to help you decide whether you may have a claim.

If you consider you may have had a less than professional service from your advisers and wish to consider whether you may have a claim, please contact Nick Carter on +44 (0)121 212 7440 or email nick.carter@anthonycollins.com
